Connecting to the world around!

Communicating & connecting to the world around us!
Communication as we all know is the process that we can see in the above image. As we can see there is a channel that carries the message across. But is it really only this????

In this post you will find various quotes, videos & images to tell you what communication is & how should we communicate for a better communication with or without use of technologies. When we talk of technologies it is important to update ourselves as to how we can use new technologies to communicate better.

Given below are three videos which will tell you something about importance of updating oneself with the technologies.( a humorous one)

Thanks to Hemangi she showed us a new way to communicate & learn through blogs.

Quotes:

Ambrose Bierce:
Heaven, n.: A place where the wicked cease from troubling you with talk of their personal affairs, and the good listen with attention while you expound your own.
The Devil's Dictionary

Edward R. Murrow:
The newest computer can merely compound, at speed, the oldest problem

in the relations between human beings, and in the end
the communicator will be confronted with the old problem, of what to say and how to say it.

George Bernard Shaw:
The problem with communication ... is the illusion that it has been accomplished.

John Dewey:
There is more than a verbal tie between the words common, community, and communication.... Try the experiment of communicating, with fullness and accuracy, some experience to another, especially if it be somewhat complicated, and you will find your own attitude toward your experience changing.

Woodrow Wilson:
If I am to speak ten minutes, I need a week for preparation; if fifteen minutes, three days; if half an hour, two days; if an hour, I am ready now.

Larry King:
I remind myself every morning: Nothing I say this day will teach me anything. So if I'm going to learn, I must do it by listening.

Mark Twain:

If you have nothing to say, say nothing.

Mark Twain:
19th century US author and humorist“The difference between the right word and almost the right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.”

Smile on Every Face???????

Life is so strange,
Nothing is such that can be arranged.
There is so much of pain,
No realation is such from which we can gain.
Fear of all kinds prevails everywhere,
Peace can be found nowhere.
No one is true by heart,
Happiness is forced to depart.
Is any one really alive ,
Or is this world full of deads??
When will these wars & disputes end??
Will there ever be happiness around??
Or there will be always fights for ground??
How many kargils do we yet have to see??
What will our world in the future be??
Will the water in the rivers be blue or red??
Every second person found on dead bed.
Will there ever be a world full of flowers??
Or we have to live with bullet showers?
Wish the world to be a better place,
Where there is a smile on every face.....

This poem is what everyone's heart says today

AFTER THIS VERY HEAVY TO DIGEST POEM...A SMALL LITTLE JOKE.....

Freedom to me....

FREEDOM WHAT IS IT??

Freedom is a fantasy.
The way to live,
The way to life.
Set me free as a bird,
High up in the skies.
For some it is a pleasure,
For some its a pride.
No one really knows, as per what freedom is??
For me its a beautiful world full of love.....Freedom is not to fight,
But to be together for reaching heights..

Criteria of sampling design

This post is in reference to the post by Hemangi, named Criteria of sampling design- GO Measure Practical Economy! (Sunday, April 1, 2007) http://metca6research.blogspot.com/search/label/DAY%203

Well I am not sure about this but this is what i understood about the post.
The criteria for selecting a sampling design are as follows:

  • GOAL ORIENTATION: While selecting a sampling design, a researcher will keep in mind the final goal or say the objective of the study. The sample choosen should be such that the objective of the research is fulfilled. For e.g. a researcher may or may not want to generalize the results among the whole population, but only to the school from where the sample is.

  • MEASUREABILITY: The sample design should be such that the results of the study are measurable. The sample size should be such that the results couls be generalized to the whole population.

  • PRACTICALITY: The sampling design choosen for the research should be done keeping in mind the practicality of the design. the resaercher needs to practically think of all the possible problems that could be faced. Also theresearcher needs to keep in mind the accessibility of the samples practically. (keeping in mind the problems we discussed yesterday).

  • ECONOMY: One of the most important criteria that should be kept in mind is economy, that is the money factor, as the funds required for the research will be more or less, depending on the sample design. And the sample design will in turn depend on the funds available for research. Also, the researcher may not be able to conduct the research & hence might need research assistants for help. The time factor should also be kept in mind. The activities in any research should be well planned & the researcher keeping in mind the time available for research should choose a sample design.

Words To Live By

It's not how much you accomplish in lifethat really counts, but
how
much you give to other.
It's not how high you build your dreamsthat makes a difference,
but how high your faith can climb.
It's not how many goals you reach, but how many lives you touch.
It's not who you know that matters, but who you are inside.
Believe in the impossible, hold tight to the incredible, and live each day to its fullest potential. You can make a differencein your world.

~ Rebecca Barlow Jordan ~

You Can Be Whatever You Want To Be!

There is inside youall of the potentialto be whatever you want to be,
all of the energyto do whatever you want to do.
Imagine yourself as you would like to be,doing what you want to do,and each day, take one steptowards your dream.
And though at times it may seem toodifficult to continue, hold on to your dream.
One morning you will awake to findthat you are the person you dreamed of,doing what you wanted to do,simply because you had the courageto believe in your potential and to hold on to your dream.

Sampling: Accessibility of samples

This post is in reference to the post by Hemangi, named Accessibility of a sample
(Sunday, April 1, 2007) http://metca6research.blogspot.com/search/label/DAY%202

Hi!
I read the 98-99 pages of the book Research Methods in Education by Louis Cohen and Lawrence Manion. The explanation given about the accessibility of a sample is simple & well supported with examples. Thanks for the source

The 3 examples of problems that the researcher might face in accessing the samples are:

  • If a researcher was to research on the after effects of punishment of juvenile delinquents on their scholastic achievements, then the probable accessibility problem, may be that the parents of those samples may not be willing to share any information with anyone, as it is a crime & has a social stigma attached to it.

  • If a researcher was to conduct a research on the new upcoming technologies in XYZ mobile phones that could be used for distance learning, then the company may not be willing to disclose it's upcoming technologies to the researcher.

  • If a researcher was to conduct a research on the emotional intelligence of children in broken homes. It becomes necessary for the researcher to study the home conditions first, in such cases the parents may not be available for taking the data & also it may happen that the parents would not allow the child be taken for any research work.

  • If a researcher was to conduct a research on the effectiveness of the induction training cai packages of ABC developers on the trainees, the accessibility problem that may arise is that they may be busy with their work & would not be free for the researcher.
